The Collaboration of Health
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, with the assistance of the Michigan Public Health Institute, is constantly developing new innovations to engage Medicaid consumers in their health using health information technology. Research has found that people actively involved in their health tend to have better outcomes and lower costs while accessing healthcare. With the growing number of smartphones, tablets, and other technology, using these tools is an opportunity to engage consumers on their own terms. MDHHS and MPHI are working in collaboration with state and national partners to assess the current consumer engagement landscape, research effective outreach strategies, and determine consumer attitudes to create an environment for people to engage in their health.
